Ah, the necklace signaled the end of my belthook collection. Woven into one side of this intricate yet broad Kumihimo cord is a decorated bronze belthook from my own collection. Dating to the Warring States Period (China, 475-221 B.C.), a subtle shadow of the original sworls of the inlaid decoration it once had still show, highlighted by the bits of red cuprite and green malachite that remain. Probably part of a ceremonial vessel, this silver or silver clad bronze piece has subtle hints of red and green from the cuprite and malachite that remain on the surface. Featuring a cloud form decoration, it comes from China and dates to around the 4th or 5th century B.C.
